Girl with a Silver Earing

I make my students create a self portrait every year. Here is my 2011 self portrait. I love a classic profile. This is my first true profile self-portrait and yes! I did it holding two mirrors!!

This collection of abstracts are mostly inspired by my students. I always encourage my students to take risks, and explore the unknown and to simply "play" with materials. These paintings are what happens when I take my own advice. They are meditations that explore color relationships, form relationships, and my own relationship with paint, color, and form.

These paintings of fruit and flowers are paintings and studies I created to keep the brushes wet and moving. Often times you are not confronted with a spectacular landscape, nor do you have the canvas to paint one on!! In those times I try to hone my skill with some of life's more quiet moments around the home. Several of the paintings are standard size for easy framing, and the three 6 x 6 square format fruit paintings display nicely as a set. The set can be sold for $100 (savings of $35). Alexandra

This is a sketch of Alexandra at the beach this summer. I would be crazy not to try to capture her in a pink tutu swim suit. A timeless treasure (Thank you Auntie Alyssa!) My daughter- Alexandra, myself as a parent, and a painter- are all unified as a work in progress!!

Marshes

My daily commute involves viewing the famous Essex marshes. When I enrolled my children, Alexandra and Ian at lil srpouts of Essex preschool, I was weary of a long 15 minute drive through Essex and back to West Gloucester. Now it is a favorite part of my day, and a major source of inspiration. I've always been drawn to the changing light on the marshes, and the explosion of color each new season brings.

Coffins Beach

Here are two paintings of Coffins Beach. Otherwise known as the Private side of Wingaersheek. It is a constant source of inspiration for me. It is serene, expansive, and looks completely different on any given day.
