It’s rare that I work back into a painting. I’m usually a one take wonder. In the last year I have begun to refine paintings here and there. I’m posting here to compare the before and after. I have, at times ruined paintings in the refining stage.

Studio Stems
Worked the Gerber Daisies again- this time in my favorite soloist glass vase. Struggling still with the pink- Enjoyed painting in natural light with a single spotlight. The natural light filtering in reduces dramatic light. I also tweaked the arrangement I started the other day. I tweaked the shadows and the flowers. I deepened the brights.

Who couldn’t use flowers right now?
I bought pink gerber daisies from Shaw’s today. I was looking for red, but they only had pink. During a pandemic it is unusual to run out and buy flowers, but something about the experience made me feel happy and normal. The painting is a little rough, I struggled with it a bit, but I think I made the most of it. There’s always room for improvement.

Again, The Broken Shell
I tried this one again but on an artists panel. I was dealing with a weird glare on the paint surface. I started it late. I may go back to it. I also prepped boards. It was nice painting on boards after painting on paper for a few weeks.
