Ian at 12

 Updating the finished draft:

Not Everyone is a Champion

My first time in the studio in a long while. I needed a medical excuse to free up my time to get to paint. THAT can’t happen again.

Many artists paint Mylar balloons. This was my first go at it. I love reflective surfaces so this had plenty to hold my interest. It’s not bad but there’s plenty to improve on. I think it’s a graduation gift for my amazing gymnast goddaughter Kate. There’s still a lot I could do- and I’m definitely going to tweak the background.

Conomo Dreaming

Tonight was my first time painting in over 2 months. My last paint session before tonight was a magical night on Cranes beach mid September. The evening that night was more spectacular than the painting I produced.

This afternoon, I finally had a second pass at this sail boat resting in the mud. So much time has passed since I worked on this, I was afraid it had lost momentum and energy. Slow and steady, it feels revived. I will have one more session with it before it’s done.

New Work

My work this summer has been all about being on location. These are a series from Coffin’s beach where there are dramatic tides and shifting tide pools. I’m into getting the colors and forms just right.
